The Science
S.C.R.A.M. is the first alcohol testing system to utilize the science of Transdermal Alcohol Testing in order to determine a person’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). S.C.R.A.M. measures the amount of alcohol that migrates through the skin—a predictable result of alcohol consumption—in order to determine a subject’s Transdermal Alcohol Concentration (TAC)
The Random Testing Fallacy
Conventional methods of measuring BAC include breath, urine, and blood testing. When applied to random, periodic drug testing programs, these methods can only provide a snapshot of a subject’s alcohol consumption over an extended period of time. Unless one tests at least once every three to four hours—a practical impossibility with current Periodic/Random testing programs—one will miss most drinking events.
